About The Forest Law Group
Serving Families throughout Buncombe, Henderson County, and Western North Carolina Since 2016
The Forest Law Group opened our doors with a simple purpose: to make legal planning easier, more approachable, and more compassionate for the individuals and families we serve throughout Western North Carolina. At the end of the day, we're people who genuinely want to help other people, and that shapes every interaction we have with our clients.
Our team focuses on keeping our legal meetings relaxed and down-to-earth rather than cold or clinical, creating a comfortable environment where you can speak freely. You won't be confused with legalese or find distant attorneys here. We value transparent pricing on all legal services and you will know the cost of any work before you decide to proceed. At Forest Law Group, you'll find a team taking the time to listen, answer questions, and help you move forward with confidence.
Whether you're creating an estate plan, exploring Medicaid planning options, preparing powers of attorney, or navigating probate and estate administration, we are committed to providing practical guidance that helps you make informed decisions for yourself and your family.
Call us at (828) 809-1629 or contact us online to schedule a consultation. We're proud to serve families throughout Asheville and Western North Carolina with transparent, flat-fee billing so you always know what to expect.
A Firm Built Around Families
We believe legal planning works best when it starts with people, not paperwork. Every family has its own story, concerns, and priorities. That's why we focus on building relationships and helping clients understand their options.
Here's what you can count on when you work with us:
- A family-centered approach – Our clients are not transactions. We treat every person who walks through our door with the same care and attention we would offer our own loved ones.
- Lifelong support – Our relationship doesn't end once we hand you your documents. Life is unpredictable, and we're here to support you through every twist and turn it brings.
- A focus on education – We believe in the power of knowledge. Our commitment is to walk you through your options clearly so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
- Transparent pricing – You'll never have to worry about surprise bills or a ticking clock. For most matters, we operate on a flat-fee billing model, so you always know your costs upfront before we begin.
We also believe knowledge is empowering. We take the time to explain your options, answer your questions, and help you understand how your plan works so you can make decisions with clarity and confidence.
Meet Brian, an Attorney Who Truly Cares
Brian Lawler isn't your typical attorney, and that's by design. Before practicing law, Brian spent nearly a decade working in social services, supporting children, adults, and families across Western North Carolina. That work brought him face-to-face with the realities of mental health, foster care and adoption, disability services, and the challenges of connecting families to community resources they often don't know they have access to. When he transitioned into law, he carried all of that with him.
Brian focuses his practice on elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, incapacity planning, special needs planning, and trust and estate administration. He is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
A snapshot of Brian's professional background:
- NC State Bar Association Elder & Special Needs Law Section
- SC State Bar
- National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA)
- The Cathedral of All Souls - Senior Warden
- Campbell University Law Review, Symposium Editor
- Published: Out of Sight, Out of Mind, 35 Campbell L. Rev. 189 (2013)
That background is what sets Brian apart. Rather than just reviewing your financial situation and handing you a stack of documents, he listens to your story, considers how your decisions will affect your entire family, and builds a plan that addresses both the legal and practical realities you're facing. He believes people make better decisions when they understand their options, so he takes the time to educate every client he works with, explaining not only what a plan does but also why it matters.
Meet our Asheville Elder Law Team
Brian may be the attorney, but The Forest Law Group runs the way it does because of the people who support every client from the moment they reach out to the moment their plan is complete. Our team brings the same warmth and commitment to every interaction, because we know that how you're treated throughout this process matters just as much as the final documents you walk away with.
